This is such a pretty dress.
Made in the 1940s from red crepe, the dress is quite simple in design but has a lovely faux pinafore detail on the front bodice.
The pinafore and sleeves are beaded with clear glass beads in the shape of flowers or shooing stars - I can't decide which it is. The piece has a metal side zip and I believe it would have originally need a full length piece which has been shortened.
This will best fit up to a 40-36-46 but to ensure it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own;
Flat bust 21.5"
Flat waist 18.5"
Flat hip 25"
Shoulders between sleeves 14.5"
Underarm sleeve length 8.5"
Flat cuff 6"
Shoulder to waist 16.5"
Shoulder to hem 42.5"
Fair with some points to note, all of which are reflected in the price. If you are looking for perfect then this piece really isn't for you. It needs to be loved by someone who doesn't mind the imperfections. Please note;
- there is a mark on the right pinafore front near neckline
- small repair centre neck
- one set of beads has some missing
- a large self mark on the back bodice on the left hand side
- repair to the right underarm
- underarm discolouration
- some small darns
- a few pinholes
It has been well loved but still has lots of life left in it.
