This gorgeous piece was made in the 1950's.
Made from heavy satin in a deep purple, it has a part boned fitted bodice which is decorated with 100's of sequins in a floral design. The skirt is gloriously swishy and just perfect for an evening dance as it has an impressive 6.7m sweep at the hem.
Measurements
The dress will best fit a 40-33-48 but to ensure that it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar dress you already own;
Flat bust 20"
Flat waist 16.5"
Hips dress
Underarm to waist 7"
Top of strap to waist 16.5"
Waist to hem 40"
Circumference of skirt at hem 264"
Condition
Structurally very good. No holes in the fabric. However, please note the following;
- the bodice has been altered and there is evidence of this by way of two rows of stitch holes down the right side of the bodice
- zip is a replacement which was done many years ago - it is a metal zip and the one used is longer than was needed so there is a spare 8" of zip hanging in the inside of the dress
- shows some general wear
- biggest issue is discolouration in large parts on the skirt and the bodice - the discolouration is orange and is very common in purple pieces of the time
At a dance in dim light you really won't see the marks too badly and many of them are lost within the full skirt. Priced to reflect the issues.
