This is an utterly amazing hat!
Made in the 1940s by New York Creations and labelled The May Company, it is a topper hat which is designed to sit to one side. Made from inky black fur felt it has a huge front bow which is covered in vibrant, multicoloured beads and sequins - definitely a statement piece.
Measurements
Because of the way it sits, it is a one size fits all even though it is labelled as a 22" head.
The hat is 8" and 8" deep
The bow is 7" wide and 3" at the widest point
Condition
Very good condition. No issues with the upper at all. The only minor points to note are;
- there is a small makeup mark in the front of the hat - see photo - which isn't seen when worn
- the grosgrain band on the inner is fraying slightly - again, not seen when worn
