This utterly divine coat, with the CC41 label, is the perfect piece to keep you warm this winter.
Made in 1943 for a lady called Lettice Barnes, it was a tailor made piece which she commissioned when she was 7 months pregnant. Her daughter, Rita, sold the coat to a fellow vintage seller and I bought the coat from her. I've had it in storage for 7 years but it's now time to let it go and be loved.
A gorgeous pure wool tweed in turquoise and brown, it has the classic shape of the era with military inspired shoulders which are padded and give you a great silhouette. A smart collar, sweeping back detail, pockets and oversized buttons, the piece can be worn buttoned right up to the neck, or with the top button left undone, showing the coats smart reveres.
Measurements
This will fit up to a 46" bust but also looks great on smaller. To ensure it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own. It has very broad shoulders, so make sure you're happy with the statement shoulders when measuring - if you are petite in the shoulder, this might drop off your shoulders and look oversized.
Flat bust 24"
Flat waist 26"
Flat hip 28"
Shoulders between sleeve seam 17" and outside sleeve edge to edge 18.5"
Length from back neck to hem 47"
Underarm sleeve length 18.5"
Condition
Very good. This piece is in really good condition with just a couple of minor points to note;
- on the outer there is a single break in the thread weave - it is 5mm and falls between the buttons - see photo
- there is staining to the underarm lining
- there is staining to the lining on the shoulders - guessing from where it has been worn in the rain
Postage
This piece is thick and heavy and can not be posted outside of the UK. It will be sent via a tracked and insured method.
