Made in America in the 1940's this beautiful coat is made from medium weight blue wool.
A classic piece of the time it features double button closure at the neck, a large rounded collar, smart pointed cuffs with button detail and neat button detail in the centre back.
Fully lined with crepe it looks great as it is although would originally have been worn belted with a wide belt. Would look great with a chunky blue leather belt.
Measurements
It is not meant to be close fitting and the back has a lot of movement in it. Although, from the measurements, you might assume that it will fit bigger, it will best fit up to a 38". To ensure that it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own. Note all measurements have been taken on the outside of the piece.

Condition
Very much wounded but wearable. Please read the below carefully to make sure that you are happy with the condition of the piece;
- repair to the top right shoulder seam but this is mostly covered by the wide collar
- minor iron shine in places
- back of the skirt section and the hem are peppered with small moth grazes - because of the weave in the fabric I believe darning them will make them more visible. Because the coat is lined the holes are only really noticeable when you hold the coat up to the light
- repairs to the pocket openings on the bottom
- 1" darn on the front
- belt loops but no belt
- grazes to the front right of the coat - the surface of the fabric has thinned in places but it has not gone through to a hole
- holes to the lining near the shoulders and the inner coat fabric in the same place - see photo
- the lining is very damaged in places and has lots of holes - not seen when worn
- it has been in storage for many years and has a slight storage smell - I've had it airing for a couple of weeks and it is so much better but if you take a really deep sniff of the fabric the odour is detectable
Although it isn't perfect it is still a charming piece for a true vintage lover or 1940's re-enactor. The price reflects the issues.
