This fabulous dress was made in the 1940's by British manufacturer CRESTA SILKS.
Made from a wonderfully slinky rayon jersey, which has a slight stretch, it is a close fitting piece. With an off-white base it has a foliate design in green.
Featuring an off centre neckline with a ruched bodice, it has three-quarter length sleeves and a hip skimming skirt with a faux hip drape, achieved by a section of gathered fabric. It fasten on the left side with a metal zip and has a hook at the neckline.
Measurements
The dress will best fit a 38-28-40. However, to ensure it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own;
Flat bust 19"
Flat waist 14.5"
Flat hip 20"
Shoulders between sleeves 15.5"
Underarm sleeve length 11.5"
Shoulder to waist 18"
Length 47.5" with no hem to let down
Circumference of skirt at hem 80"
Condition
Good with the following points to note;
- very minor underarm discolouration
- someone has rather roughly removed the belt loops which has resulted in 4 small darns to cover where they were
- when held up to the light there are a few small holes where someone must have raised the hem and then dropped it again with little care and caught the fabric in the process
