This pretty dress was made in the 1950's.
Made from medium weight wool in a pretty shade of lavender blue, it is a beautifully made piece and is fully lined.
A close fitting bodice with a square neckline, it has three-quarter length sleeves and a smooth fitting skirt with pleats in the front. It has a belt with a large bow in the front which is decorated with glass beads and there is a similar trim either side of the neck.
Measurements
This piece will best fit up to a 42-34-44 . It is fully lined and has no stretch at all so to ensure that it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own;
Flat bust 23" but this is with the bodice at full stretch, which ruins the line of the bodice, so best for up to a 42"
Flat waist 17.5" and the smallest the belt will go is 33"
Flat hip 24"
Shoulders between sleeves 17.5"
Underarm sleeve length 12.5"
Back neck to waist 18"
Back neck to hem 46.5"
Condition
Good with some points to note;
- there is a small darn on the back waist, but this is entirely covered with the belt
- there is a small darn on the front right bodice, right beside the sleeve
- it has been turned up at some point, which has made the hem a little chunky
- some marks and wear on the lining, but not seen when worn
- minor underarm wear
- main issue is there is some fade and uneven colour in parts, as so often happens with vintage purple pieces
