This pretty little dress was made in the 1950's.
Made from pure silk in a base shade of taupe it has the most adorable print of little purple and white squirrels holding onto a nut.
The dress has a close fitting bodice and the skirt is slim fitting in the front with a bit more flow in the back. The piece is finished off perfectly with the original belt, which is lined with leather so that it doesn't slip down the dress.
It has a left side opening which fastens with little hooks and eyes.
Measurements
This piece will best fit a 36-26-38 and there is no stretch to the silk at all so to ensure that this will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own;
Flat bust 19" in the back and 22" in the front
Flat waist 14" but the left is for a 26"
Flat hip 17" in the front and 22" in the back
Edge to edge on the straps 19"
Shoulder to waist 15.5"
Shoulder to hem 40.5"
Condition
Good with the following points to note;
- the dress has clearly been altered at some point and some of the darts are a little wibbly and the waist seam could be neater, although it isn't seen when the belt is in place
- there is discolouration on the back of the dress where the belt sits
- there is a lot of print transfer and there are little 'ghost' squirrels in lots of places so please look at the photographs carefully to make sure you are happy with the level of transfer
