This stunning piece was made in the 1920's.
The dress is made from inky black silk and features a deep front opening and little collar. It has a full skirt with bands of dull silk ribbon, which really stand out against the lustrous silk of the dress, and it is finished off perfectly with gold metal buttons.
The slip is made from gold lame and is slim fitting at the bust and waist with little pleats of fullness on the sides. It has thin lame straps and shines perfectly against the black silk.
A very stylish piece of evening wear from the time.

Condition
Good with the following points to note;
- the set has been in storage for decades and the lame slip shows a long fold line down the centre where the gold thread has discoloured
- the slip has some spots of discolouration below knee length, but these aren't seen when worn
- the only point to note on the dress is that there is wear to the back of the sleeves where they join the bodice - the wear is historical and someone has added large internal patch repairs
