This stunning evening dress was made in the 1940's and is labelled B.Altman and Co. New York.
Made from black crepe it has a blouson bodice and the waist of the dress is meant to be lifted so it sits on your natural waist to achieve the full look.
With smooth fitting sleeves and a central front split in the skirt it has gorgeous embroidery and fringed trim and is finished off perfectly with a black satin belt.
The perfect dress to dance and shimmy in due to the fabulous fringe detail.
Measurements
The dress will best fit a 36-29-40 but would fit up to a 38" bust maximum. However, to ensure that it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own;
Flat bust 20.5"
Flat waist 15"
Flat hip 20"
Shoulders between sleeves 14"
Underarm sleeve length 3.5"
Flat cuff 6"
Shoulder to waist 18" but as the bodice is meant to be lifted to give fullness it is best for a 16" shoulder to waist
Shoulder to hem 57.5"
Belt is currently a 29" waist but the poppers could easily be moved to make it smaller.
Condition
Good with the following points to note;
- there is a small 10mm darn on the outer left sleeve
- minor wear to the fabric at the top of the zip
- main issue is some very slight discolouration in the back skirt, near the hem - see photo
