This piece was made in the 1940's and is labelled 'BEST & CO Fifth Avenue, New York'.
A lovely hat it has an inky black crown worked in fine straw and is designed to sit fully on your head. The brim is made from a double layer of fine grosgrain which has a smooth outer and is gathered around the base of the straw crown and secured with a fine wire. The piece is finished off perfectly with a neat bow on the right side.
The hat can be worn on the back of your head, framing your face, or can be worn more on top and tilted to either side.
