This stunning bag was made in the 1920's.
The fabric is fabulously soft to the touch silk velvet with a black base and a small floral print in brown and warm pink. It has a fabric handle and the top of the bag has bands of shirring. The frame is celluloid made to look like tortoiseshell and it has a top clasp. The bag is fully lined and trimmed with a band of gold bullion thread.
An absolutely glorious bag which is perfect for an evening out.
Measurements
The widest point of the bag is 10"
Height excluding the handle 8" and with 14"
Condition
Very good with the following points to note;
- where the bag is sewn to the frame, there are little bronze coloured glass beads and there are eight missing on either side - please see photos
- slight scuff marks on the frame under the clasp, but only seen when you open the bag
- light discolouration on the lining, see photos
- there is a fine scratch on the frame - see fourth photo - but it is surface only and isn't a crack
