This wonderful skirt, in a hard to find shade, was made in the 1940's and is labelled 'Styled and Produced by Howland PERFECT IN EVERY DETAIL'.
Made from medium weight tweed in green with a white fleck, and a very occasional spot or red, it is a close fitting piece, smooth in the back and pleated in the front. It has a teeny pocket on the front right hip and fastens on the left side with a metal zip. It is unlined.
A classic skirt of the time which is a great wardrobe staple.
Please note the colour of the skirt is truest in the photo that shows the label.
Measurements
The skirt will fit up to a 27" waist, depending on what you're planning to tuck into it. However, to ensure that it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own;
Flat waist 13.5"
Flat hip 18.5" when measured 8" down from the top
Length 31"
Condition
Good with the following points to note;
- when held up to the light there are 18 darns on the left side - some are really small, others about 5mm but they are all felt in the weave rather than seen
- there appears to have been a fault in the fabric as there are some faint white lines, measuring 1cm wide, in the left side of the skirt - see photos
Still presents beautifully.
