Absolutely beautiful pair of original French knickers from the 1930's or 1940's.
Made from beautiful quality, fairly thick silk, they have the typical shape of the era with wide legs and side button closure. Possibly a home-sewn piece, they have no maker's label but have a handwritten label in the side seam with "Brittain" written on it. They have been sewn on a machine but the lace has been carefully sewn on by hand.
Measurements
Flat waist 13" so they'll work on a tight 26" max
Flat hip 20" - these are not meant to be tight fitting
Outer leg length 17"
Top of waist to hem down the middle seam 17"
Condition
Beautiful with just two points to note;
- there is a pinhead hole in the gusset
- there are three very faint marks on the front right leg - see photo for scale.
They have been washed, pressed and are ready to wear.
