These fabulous boots were made in the very late 1930's or early 1940's.
Made from chocolate brown glace leather they have a neat little turn down around the opening, the underside of which is embossed to look like snake skin. A neat heel, metal tipped laces and fully lined with sheepskin, they will keep your feet toasty warm!!
Measurements
Although these are marked as a 6.5, they have been tried on a UK size 6 and they were very snug. There is a decent thickness of fur which covers the entire inner and this will squish a bit in time but I think these will better fit a 5.5 or narrow 6. However, to ensure that these will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar pair of shoes you already own;
Length along the inner 10" - this is right into the toe, which your toes won't reach, so better for a bit smaller
Width on the inner 3.5" - the sole is nearly 4" which makes them appear wider fitting than they are but the inner is smaller as there is quite a wide rim to the sole
Heel 1 1/4"
Vamp 5 1/2"
Condition
Deadstock - these have never been worn and the soles show no wear. However, there are some points to note;
- there are some light creases on the leather - as happens with glace leather - but when there is a foot in the shoe the creases go
- there are a couple of marks and one scuff on the leather - see photo
- main issue is that the fur on the inner has suffered what I assume to be moth damage. Most significant area of damage is on the inners but there is some loss to the fur on the sides - it has been impossible to get a good photo of it but I have tried. The one photo of the soles doesn't show all the damage. None of this damage is recent, nor does it show when the boots are worn.
