This pretty piece was made in France in the 1940's or 1950's.
Made from medium weight cotton in a plaid print in green, blue, purple and pink it was originally designed to be worn over your clothes to protect them from getting dirty while you were doing chores but it is much too pretty to be confined to the home and works perfectly as a day dress.
A button through design it has long sleeves with pleated sleeve heads, patch pockets with ric-rac trim and a belt with a button fastening.
Measurements
This piece will currently best fit up to a 38-29-40. However, because the dress is 18" flat across the waist but the belt is set with a button at 29" you could move the belt and get a little more from the waist, probably up to a 32". To ensure it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own;

Condition
Has been washed, pressed and ready to wear with just a couple of points to note;
- two teeny darns on the back of the right sleeve
- a couple of small pinhead hows in the weave
