This is a classic British wartime suit.
Made in the 1940s and labelled John A Whites, Ipswich, it is made from medium weight pure wool and is in houndstooth check in green, brown, blue and natural. It is for a petite size as the skirt is quite short.
The jacket is beautifully tailored with great seaming detail in the front and pockets. The skirt is simple, yet stylish, and fastens with a metal zip and hooks and eyes. The jacket is fully lined with crepe, the skirt is, as was common at the time of manufacture, unlined.
