This adorable necklace is made from plastic thread like the ones used in the popular 1940s Make Do and Mend brooches.
These necklaces could be made at home using thread and jewellery findings and were a great way to brighten up a tired outfit. The last photo shows an original 1940s pattern which includes the instructions to make this type of necklace.
Made in the 1940s or early 1950s, this piece is made from bright yellow plastic thread and has a barrel clasp. It has been crocheted and is a lovely example of the time.
