This is a lovely dress.
A home sewn piece, it was made in the 1940s in a floppy cotton which has a great weight to it and hangs beautifully. Royal blue and off-white, the fabric has been cleverly cut and sewn to create a stripe skirt and contrast yoke. The skirt is made up of 4 bands of fabric, each one slightly larger than the one before and each gathered to give extra detail. It fastens down the back with 4 plastic buttons - they are modern replacements.
It is shown belted, but the belt is not included. It would look great worn with white accessories.
Measurements
It will best fit up to a 38-30-40 but would work well on smaller and would look great belted. However, to ensure it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar item you already own.
Flat bust 20"
Flat waist 16"
Flat hip 22"
Length 44"
Neck to waist 16"
Flat cuff 6 3/4"
Condition
Good with some points to note;
- wear around the buttonholes
- wear under the buttons, one is significant and has been repaired and strengthened
- some minor seam pulls
- some single thread pulls on the fabric - see photos
- some wear in the corners on the neck yoke
It still presents really well and has been priced to reflect the issues.
