This swagger coat is stunning. The shaping on it is so classic of the era and it gives you that timeless silhouette of the 1940s.

Made from Kelly green wool it is lined with thick satin and there satin is lined with with a soft layer of wool making this coat exceptionally cosy for winter. Spearpoint collar, three statement buttons, deep cuffs, smart seaming and large patch pockets - it really is a wonderful example of 1940s tailoring. No makers label but there is evidence on the inner collar that a label was once there.

Measurements

This is a really good size and the cut and style of the piece means it will fit a variety of sizes. It isn't meant to be close fitting and was designed to be roomy. The following measurements have all been taken on the outside of the coat and to ensure it will fit you, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own.

Flat bust 23”

Flat waist 23”

Shoulders between sleeves 16”

Neck to hem 47”

Underarm sleeve length 17”

Condition

Good with some points to note.

- there is a repair on the left sleeve edge - see photo

- some small darns on both sleeve edges - the coat must have been worn by someone with slightly shorter arms because both sleeve edges were worn

- wear on the underside of the right collar tip - see photo

- very slight discolouration. I only noticed it when I lifted the collar. It isn't significant but it is slightly visible on both sleeve edges and under the collar
