This beautiful bag was made in 1920's.

Made from black crepe it is covered, on both sides, with a beautifully embroidered design with palm trees, buildings and flowers. It is fully lined with rust crepe with a floral trim and fastens at the top with a chunky metal zip and has two handles made from twisted thread.

Most likely a tourist piece.

Condition

Good with the following points to note;

  • there is some colour change on the blue threads only - it might be fade but it could be they used two-tone thread
  • a couple of small plucks to some of the silk
  • I spotted 4 dark marks but they are only really seen when looking for them
