This is a gorgeous little fur evening cape from the 1930's or 1940's.
Made of ermine, and trimmed with an impressive 47 ermine tails on the hemline and another 4 at the neck, it is a stunning piece.
A wonderful fullness at the hem, boxy shoulders and a stand up, slightly stiffened collar, it is fully lined with black satin.
There are no fastenings on the piece, it just sits neatly on your shoulders - would look wonderful with a fur chatelaine to help keep it in place.
The perfect accessory for an evening dance or would be ideal for a winter wedding.
Measurements
Back of neck to hem 15"
Fullness at hem 64"
Shoulders are a petite fit and will best fit a 15" shoulder and the piece will work on a 35" bust maximum or you spoil the line of the piece.
Condition
Good vintage with some minor points to note;
- there are some small repairs to the seams between the pelts, but they are only visible when you are looking for them as they disappear into the fullness of the fur pelt
- there are a few very small areas where the fur has thinned - these are on the edges where you'd touch the cape - but these are not especially visible as the skins are white
- the lining appears to have been re-sewn to the cape
- one shoulder is slightly crackly when you touch it
The fur is soft, smooth and clean. There are no odours.
