This charming little brooch was most likely made in the 1930s or 1940s. This style of carved jewellery, often featuring edelweiss or alpine flowers, was popular during the 30s and 40s and was often purchased as a tourist piece.
This is one of the most intricately carved edelweiss brooches I've seen. One single carved piece it appears as two "layers". The bottom layer has a delicately carved edge and the top layer features three wonderful edelweiss with blue/grey and yellow painted middles. Beautifully carved it would look perfect on a lapel.
Length 2 1/8th"
Very good, no chips, just shows minor signs of wear and some minimal paint loss in the middles.
