This is a lovely cotton dress which is perfect for the summer.
A home sewn piece which was made in the 1950s, it is made from a medium weight cotton in a 1" gingham check of pink, red and off-white. It has a simple bodice and a lovely full skirt, raglan sleeves, a neat belt which has a pink buckle and contrast collar and cuffs in a cotton twill. The seamstress who made this piece has used some French seams and has made this piece to a good standard, but clearly they were not keen on buttonholes or zips because the neck fastening is a popper and there is no side opening. Please bear this in mind when considering the fit because you'll need to be able to wiggle your bust through the waist opening.
Measurements
This will fit up to a 38-32-40 but please check the measurements below to be sure that it will fit you. Note there is no side opening.
Flat bust 20" bust the maximum fit will be 38" due to the cut. The front has more fullness than the back as it is meant to be quite a blousey cut.
Flat waist 18" but the belt has holes from 27"-31" so it isn't meant to be close fitting at the waist
Flat hip 27"
Shoulders will fit up to a 15"
Back neck to waist 14.5"
Back neck to hem 42"
Sweep at hem 100"
Condition
Very good condition and only shows minor signs of wear. Not a fault but a point to note, the back bodice has a seam running down the centre. The checks do not line up! It bugs me so thought I should mention it.
