This charming little brooch was most likely made in the 1930s or 1940s. This style of carved jewellery, often featuring edelweiss or alpine flowers, was popular during the 30s and 40s and was often purchased as a tourist piece.
This piece is made from Bakelite which has been painted like a gentian violet. A wonderfully vibrant brooch it will add a great pop of colour to a lapel.
