This pretty dress would be perfect for the summer.
A home-sewn piece from the 1950's, it is made from floppy cotton in the prettiest cornflower blue with stripes of white filled with bands of pretty roses - a truly classic print of the era.
A smooth fitted bodice, little cap sleeves and a fairly full skirt, it fastens on the left side with a zip and has two tiny bows in the front.
Measurements
This will best fit up to a 34-27-38. It is shown on a 35" mannequin and there isn't a lot of wiggle room. To ensure it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own;
Flat bust 18"
Flat waist 14"
Flat hip 22"
Shoulders between sleeves 15"
Shoulder to waist 14.5"
Shoulder to hem 41"
Flat arm opening 5.5"
Condition
Fair. This piece is homemade and hasn't been made to the highest possible standard and has some very wobble seams. It has been much loved and clearly altered at some point as there are stitch marks visible where seams have been adjusted, especially around the zip. There are also some issues to note;
- minor seam stress on the front darts
- some darns around the zip
- I spotted three pinhead holes when held up to the light
Still loads of life left in it and would be perfect for the summer.
