This coat truly is incredible. Deep cuffs, balloon sleeves, satin lined drapes, dolman sleeves and button detail on the front and back - the photos truly do not do it justice.
British made in the 1940s, it is labelled John Moses French Room. Made from thick wool crepe in French navy, it has a wonderful fit and flair shape. Dolman sleeves and a nipped waist, the skirt has two satin lined drapes which give the coat movement as you walk. Fully lined with satin, it fastens at the waist with a double hook and eye. The whole look is finished off with rows of buttons on the collar and on the back of the skirt drapes.
This piece isn't meant to be close fitting in the bodice. The design is full in the bust with very broad shoulders so please bear this in mind. It has a fixed waist at 28" as there is a grosgrain band on the inner and this cannot be adjusted. It is best suited to a 36-28-38 but to ensure that it will fit you please compare the measurements below to a similar item you already own.
Flat bust sits best at 18"
Waist will fit maximum 28" and that is snug so best suited to a 27" waist
Flat hip 19"
Neck to waist 15"
Neck to hem 43"
Underarm sleeve length 16"
Cuff depth 4.25”
Flat balloon sleeve over 10”
Very good. Only shows minor wear and the only minor points to note are;
- a 4mm darn on the inner sleeve
- slight light marks on the waist near the fastening
