This hat is stunning and so unusual.
Made in the 1920's or 1930's, it features a wired frame covered in black cotton velvet. The frame is trimmed with a vibrant applique decoration made from glass beads in matt gold and jewel shades. The net, with a handkerchief hem, is covered with polka dots in gold glitter.
Whether this is a costume piece of the time or a very fancy evening hat I'm not sure but what I do know is that it is fabulous!
Measurements
It is meant to sit on the top of your head and will work on a 21" head
The velvet halo is 1 3/4" deep
The longest part of the net is 13"
Condition
Very good with minor points to note;
- there are 2 small mends and 2 tiny breaks in the net but because of the fullness of the net these are only seen when you stretch the net out
- tiny number of beads missing from one edge of the applique
