This is such an amazing piece.
Made in the late 1930s or early 1940s it is made from medium weight brown and cream wool in a classic houndstooth check. This coat is one of the most beautiful pieces we have had.
It can be worn three ways. Buttoned at the neck, and with the belt removed, it is a swagger coat with wonderful seaming in the back. It can be buttoned at the neck, or left with the lapels turned back, and belted with the chocolate brown buckle or you can swap belts and have it as a tie front belt. The belt comes in 4 sections and is attached on the inside by buttons.
It has great detailing with boxy shoulders, patch pockets, including a small pocket on a bigger pocket which fastens with a little popper. Fully lined with cotton and with shoulder pads filled with horsehair, this is an exceptionally well made coat.
PLEASE NOTE IF YOU HAVE ANY ALLERGIES TO ANIMAL HAIR DON’T PURCHASE THIS GARMENT AS RHE HORSE HAIR SHOULDER PADS MAY CAUSE YOU AN ISSUE.

Condition
Very good with some minor points to note;
There are some darns in the fabric, most aren't too noticeable due to the texture of the fabric and are mostly "felt" in the fabric rather than seen.
- 1" darn on the front of the left shoulder
- 3 darns on the left sleeve
- 2 darns on the right sleeve
- 3 darns on the right pocket
- approximately 8 scattered darns, about 2mm in size
- some very minor discolouration on the collar which is only seen when you lift it up - it really is minor
