Made in the 1930s, this classic black coat is made from boucle wool and is fully lined with black crepe. Although there isn't a maker's label, there is evidence on the lining at the back neck that there was once a label there. A collarless design, it has broad shoulders with shoulder pads to help keep give you the iconic silhouette of the era, slim fitting sleeves, fastens with two large statement buttons and has a half belt which ties in the front to cinch the waist in.
Measurements
It is not meant to be close fitting in the bodice and the belt means it can be cinched in smaller, so will fit a variety of waist sizes. The bust will fit up to 38" maximum. To ensure it will fit you properly, please compare the following measurements to a similar coat you already own.
Measurements taken on the outside;
Flat bust 20”
Flat waist 17.5" (14.5" seam to seam across the back, but there is more fullness in the front)
Flat hip 21"
Shoulders between sleeves 15”
Underarm sleeve length 17"
Neck to hem 40” - the hem could potentially be dropped by 1.5" but the lining has no allowance to let down
Condition
Very good with some minor points to note;
- the finish on neck where the outer is attached to the lining is a little scruffy
- there are some small repairs on the lining
