This is a beautiful example of an original late 1930's day dress.
Made from a floppy crepe in dark blue, it has a bold print of varying sized dots in stripes of red, green, yellow and blue.
It has a smooth fitting skirt with a pleated insert in the front and the bodice has a pleated insert. The sleeves have a neat gather and it looks fabulous on. This piece needs to be belted to look it's best.
Measurements
This piece isn't meant to be clingy and will best fit up to a 38-32-40 but to ensure it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own. Please note there is no side opening.
Flat bust 20"
Flat waist 18"
Flat hip 21"
Shoulders between sleeves 13" (although it does appear someone has added a tuck to both sides which, if taken out, could give a little more shoulder room)
Underarm sleeve length 8"
Flat cuff 5"
Shoulder to waist 17"
Shoulder to hem 45.5"
Condition
Very good with some minor points to note;
- some of the front darts have been re-sewn at some point and the stitching isn't entirely even
- there are two darns in the back seat of the dress, see final photo
- there are 5 small darns across the piece but they are mostly lost within the bold print
