This beautiful piece was handmade in the 1940's. Whoever made this piece must have been short of fabric because the front bodice section is pieced in the middle.
Made from very lightweight cotton which has fabulous drape, it has a slim fitting skirt with a fairly loose front bodice which has a faux bolero front. A side zip and single button fastener at the back, it is such a pretty piece in great colours which would look perfect belted.
Measurements
This will best fit up to a 36-28-38 although to ensure it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar item you already own;
Flat bust 18" in the back and 20" across the front - the front is meant to be worn slightly blouson
Flat waist 15"
Flat hip 20"
Shoulders between sleeves 14"
Underarm sleeve length 4"
Shoulders to waist 15"
Shoulders to hem 43.5"
Condition
Good with some points to note. This piece is not perfect and does have a number of mends but it still looks absolutely fabulous.
- there are 6 pinhead holes when held up to the light
- a 1.5" repair in the front dart
- the zip has been replaced with a plastic one
- 9 small darns in the front of the dress and 4 in the back
- 2 1" darns on the right side seam of the skirt, approximately 12" up from the hem
Although it isn't perfect, most of the issues are lost in the busy print and are only really seen when the piece is held up to the light
