This classic day dress is made from blue crepe and was made in the 1940's.
The bodice is close fitting and has gathers on the yoke, it has 4 teeny buttons on the back neck, side ties which cinch into a bow at the back, broad pleats in the skirt and loop and grosgrain lace detail in the front.
I originally wondered if this was a maternity dress but the amount of space gained if you undo the lacing slightly gives hardly any extra room so I believe it's just a pretty detail.

Condition
Structurally very good, it is strong and has loads of life left in it but there are a few small points to note;
- there are two pinhead holes - one beside the popper opening and one on an underarm
- most minor underarm discolouration
- very slight iron shine
- some pale marks on the back bodice - see photos - this would be easily covered by a jacket or cardigan
