An absolutely fabulous piece of original 1940s knitwear.
This is a machine knitted, commercially made piece labelled White Heather. Made in the 1940s from burgundy and grey wool, one of the classic colour combinations of the time, this piece has beautiful scalloped lapels, five button closure and pretty pockets. Finding original machine knitted pieces is exceptionally rare, and this one is even more rare as it is a CC41 piece.
Measurements
It isn't meant to be close fitting, it fits more like a jacket, so to ensure it will fit you please compare the measurements below to a similar item you already own;
Flat bust 21"
Flat waist 20"
Shoulders between sleeves 15.5"
Neck to hem 26"
Underarm sleeve length 18"
Condition
Beautiful. It looks like it wasn't ever worn as there are is no bobbling to the underarms, which often happens with knitwear. It has a couple of small points to note;
- down the left scalloped edge there are 4 small, old, moth grazes
- one 2mm repair, done by me, on the left outer sleeve
It truly is a museum quality piece.
