This fabulous platter hat was made in the 1940's.
Made from felt in a rich shade of dark brown it has a close fitting crown with a wide down-turned brim. The inner crown is trimmed with a band of grosgrain and the brim features two rows of openwork detail and the hat is finished off with a neat little felt bow in the back.
The perfect finishing touch to your vintage outfit.
Please note it has been difficult to show the true colour of the hat but the final photograph, showing a close up of two moth grazes to the right side of the hat, shows the colour best.
Measurements
The hat is labelled for a 22" head and is only meant to sit on the back section of your head, rather than fully on, and needs to be secured with a hat pin. Actual measurements

Condition
Very good with the following points to note;
- there is a single 2mm moth hole in the crown, but it is so close to the brim and sits within the crease that you truly don't see it when worn
- 4 small moth grazes scattered around the edge of the brim - they are not holes just grazes to the upper surface of the nap of the felt
- minor discolouration on the inner band
