This is a lovely example of an original 1940s fair isle slipover.

Made from what feels like wool, in a medium thickness, it has been knitted beautifully in pretty shades of pinks, purple, green and blue.

PLEASE NOTE THE KNIT HAS BEEN PINNED TO THE MANNEQUIN TO GIVE SHAPE. THIS KNIT IS MUCH MORE STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN.

Measurements

Flat bust 19"

Flat waist 17"

Shoulders edge to edge 16"

Shoulder to hem 19"

Underarm to waist 14"

Condition

Good vintage. There is some minor bobbling in places and two thicker pieces of wool on the rib. I can't work out if they are repairs or mistakes made by the original knitter.

A quirk, rather than a fault, is the fact that the two bands of knitting are not symmetrical with the broadest band with pink and magenta not sitting central to the "V". The knit is strong and the colours are still vibrant. It has plenty of wear left in it.
