This is a classic British wartime suit.
Made in the 1940s and labelled John A Whites, Ipswich, it is made from medium weight pure wool and is in houndstooth check in green, brown, blue and natural. It is for a petite size as the skirt is quite short.
The jacket is beautifully tailored with great seaming detail in the front and pockets. The skirt is simple, yet stylish, and fastens with a metal zip and hooks and eyes. The jacket is fully lined with crepe, the skirt is, as was common at the time of manufacture, unlined.
To ensure this piece will fit you properly, we recommend that you compare the following measurements to a similar suit you already own.
All our measurements are taken on the outside of the garment.

Flat waist 16”
Underarm sleeve length 15”
Shoulders between sleeves 14.5"
Flat waist 12.5"

Very good with a couple of minor points to note;
- there is a 5mm mark on the front of the skirt, only seen on close inspection and lift if dry cleaned
- there is an 8mm darn on the right bodice, just above the pocket
- watermarks and underarm staining on the lining
