This stylish suit was made in the 1940's and is labelled Mode O'Day.
Made from lightweight taffeta in dark blue and white gingham, it is a great summer weight suit.
The skirt is slim fitting and fastens with a single button and zip. The fabric is fairly sheer when a single layer is held up to the light and so the skirt has been lined at some point with modern polyester lining.
The jacket is fabulous, oversized and has really broad shoulders to give you the iconic silhouette of the era. It is double breasted, fastening with metal buttons, is belted, has neat cuffs and the collar can be worn wide and open or it can be tied at the neck with velvet ribbon.
