This is a wonderful little dress.
Made in the 1940's it is a home sewn piece with a fairly simple bodice which has a button neck, neat collar, pleated skirt and has a side opening with poppers. Made from a floppy linen in a lovely floral design of red, white and blue stripes, it is a great patriotic design.
Measurements
This is best suited to a 35" bust maximum and would look great belted. To ensure it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own. Please note that it has quite a short bodice so will best suit someone petite.
Flat bust 18"
Flat waist 14"
Hips free
Shoulders 16"
Shoulder to waist 15"
Shoulder to hem 44.5"
Condition
Good with some minor points to note;
- there is a 1" by 1/3" darn in the back neck just below the collar
- there is a very faint mark on the skirt where the hem has been dropped
- the piece has been made using different coloured sewing threads and the red which was used, mostly on the waistline, has run very slightly. It is very, very minor but is seen on close inspection
- there is some minor fade on the collar and skirt which is seen when you look inside the pleats where the blue is slightly darker
