This beautiful bag was made in the 1940's and, due to the front design, was most likely made during WW2.
Made from tan leather it features what appears to be an RAF Avro Lancaster Bomber against a cloud. Clearly a home-made piece - you could purchase kits to make leather bags - the design has been etched into the leather on the reverse.
Quite a simple envelope design it has no fastening - and never has had - and has two internal pockets.
A really beautiful, and rare, example of a 1940's bag.
Measurements
Length 9"
Height 6.5"
Condition
The leather is still nice and supple but there are a few points to note;
- there are some pen marks on the inner flap - see photo
- there is a small circle mark on the back - looks like a fault in the leather
- some light marks and scuffs - especially on the edges
