This is a classic example of a 1940's dress.
A home-sewn piece, it is made from navy crepe with small white polka dots. It has a sweetheart neckline, pointed bodice detail and smart darts on the bodice front.
The construction is a little "rustic" with not the best techniques used so it has been gently priced and would be perfect for a 1940's re-enactor.
This piece will fit up to a 44-42-50 but to ensure it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own. Please note it has no side openings so you'll need to be able to fit your bust through the waist opening.
Flat bust 22" plus 2" additional fullness in the pleats on the bust
Flat waist 22"
Flat hip 28"
Shoulders between sleeves 14.5"
Shoulder to waist 15"
Shoulder to hem 41.5"
Underarm sleeve length 5.5"
Flat cuff 8"
It is in good condition with some minor points to note. The main point to note is that it has been home-sewn and not to the highest standard. It has some wibbly seams, some odd construction details and lots of spare fabric on the inside at the waist. A good seamstress may be able to use some of the waist fabric to make a belt/make the dress longer. Issues to note;
- there is a 4mm by 2mm mark on the front right bodice
- there are three small areas of fabric stress on the back of the neck - possibly from darts which have been let out
