This fabulous bag was made in the early 20th Century and is most likely a homemade piece.
The base fabric is fine cotton white has a floral design printed onto it. Someone has painstakingly hand embroidered over much of the design with silk threads in muted shades. Fully lined with green crepe it has narrow bands of, what I assume is, thin wood at the top edges to give it some structure and it is finished off with handles made from twisted silk thread.
Such a gorgeous piece which must have taken hours to create.
