This coat is divine!
Made in the late 1930s, it is made from lightweight wool and is fully lined with crepe. It is a beautifully made piece featuring tucked sleeve heads, giving the iconic shape of the late 1930s, and the double button fastening at the neckline is a really lovely detail. The bodice and sleeve edges are embroidered with a lacquered thread which gives great shine.
Measurements
This piece will fit up to a 35" bust. The front isn't meant to have much crossover otherwise it spoils the symmetrical lines of the embroidery. To ensure it will fit you properly please compare the measurements below to a similar garment you already own;
Flat bust 17.5" on the back and 18.5" on the front
Flat waist 18" it is meant to cinch with the belt
Shoulders between sleeves 13.5"
Underarm sleeve length 18"
Shoulder to waist 16"
Shoulder to hem 42"
Condition
Very good, looks to have been little worn and was mostly likely kept for best. Only minor points to note are;
- 3mm darn on the left collar edge
- 10mm darn on the left edge of the coat, 18" up from the hem
- three pale marks on the back of the piece - see photo
