This pretty set was made in the late 1940's or early 1950's and is labelled 'For You by Blanes'.
Made from a floppy cotton rayon mix with a floral border print in mustard, purple, white and black on soft duck egg blue.
The bodice is boned and close fitting, has halterneck straps, is trimmed with lace and fastens down the back with a metal zip. The skirt is quite slim fitting and the dress is finished off neatly with a back tie belt.
The bolero has been a little crudely made and has a mix of hand and machine stitching. I'm certain it has been altered at some point but can't see how. Still looks great with the dress but the dress also looks fabulous on its own.

Condition
Good with the following points to note;
- I'm not convinced that the trim around the top of the bodice is original and you may want to remove it
- the tie back belt looks a little roughly done so
- the bolero is really weirdly constructed and has a lot of hand sewn seams so I'm assuming it has been altered at some point
- the bolero has a cluster of six small darns on the back left near the armhole
Washed, pressed and ready to wear.
