This classic 1940's smock is made from white linen with a blue floral print.
Originally designed to cover clothes when chores were being done, it features long sleeves, with button cuffs, has a patch pocket and neat collar. The fabric quality is wonderful and the piece has such great drape.
It could easily be worn as a blouse as is, but there is enough fabric there for it to be chopped and altered into a cropped jacket or blouse.
Measurements
The smock will best fit up to a 42" bust, as it isn't meant to be close fitting, but to ensure it will fit you properly, please compare the measurements below to a similar piece you already own;
Flat bust 23" but the piece is meant to be loose fitting so better for a flat 21"
Flat waist 24"
Shoulders between sleeves 15"
Underarm sleeve length 17.5"
Flat bicep 7"
Length 35.5"
Condition
Fair for age. The smock has clearly been loved and worn and there are some points to note;
- there is a rust mark on the right shoulder front
- a small mark beside the pocket
- wear behind the buttonholes, but all still hold well
- a few thread pulls
- fray to the collar tips
- wear to the cuffs
- shows general wear, as happens with linen, but still a great piece
