This is an utterly adorable piece.
Made in the 1920s or 1930s, it is made from black straw which has a slightly coarse texture. It has a wired brim which is wrapped in dusky blue velvet and the brim is trimmed with a velvet band with decorative stitching in the front and a neat bow in the back.
It can be worn flat on your head with the brim very low down on your forehead, but also looks great tilted more to the back like a bonnet.

Condition
Good with some points to note;
- the inner band has a lot of wear - see photos
- when the hat isn't on a head it looks a little squashed - see final photo - when it is on a head it looks just fine
- there are some small marks on the velvet edging
