This charming little hat was made in the 1940's.
Very much in the Make Do and Mend style it looks to be a home-made design, which wasn't uncommon in the 1940's. A shallow crown it has a neat brim with a wired frame and the piece is trimmed with a twisted band of grosgrain.
The brown and the brim have been carefully sewn together and the grosgrain is there to cover the join.
